Charging contacts
Charging contacts are the pads on the robot and the matching plates on the dock. They oxidise, burn and lose their spring, which leaves the robot sitting on the dock without charging.
Contacts for Xiaomi and Mijia, Roborock, Dreame, iLife and Ecovacs. Price depends on the model.

Try an eraser first
Darkened pads often come back to life after a wipe with a dry cloth or a pencil eraser. If charging resumes, there is nothing to replace.
When it really is time
The plate is flattened and no longer springs, the metal is burnt through to a pit, the plastic around it is melted. Cleaning will not help there, and leaving it is a bad idea.
